“In the essentials we need unity, in the non-essentials we need freedom; but in all things we need love.”
At Christ Church, we seek to focus on keeping Christ the “Main Thing.” Our Core Beliefs are the truths of orthodox Christianity that have been recognized everywhere and throughout history. There will always be less central matters that committed Christ-followers disagree on, but the core beliefs of Christianity are the essentials.
All people matter to God because they are made “in God’s image” and designed to be in relationship with God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The Bible is “the story we find ourselves in,” the "Six Act Drama" of Redemption: 1. creation, 2. the fall into sin and brokenness, 3. Israel, 4. Jesus as the one who brings the Good News of God’s Kingdom, 5. the Church (Jesus' new community) extending the Good News, and 6. the New Creation, begun at Christ's resurrection and completed when God restores all things and brings complete “Shalom,” putting all things right.
As someone has said, we are "Designed for Good," "Damaged by Evil," "Restored in Christ," and "Sent Together to Heal" and bring hope to a broken world.
We affirm the Apostle's Creed and Nicene Creed as historic statements of the Church's faith.
Our affiliation is with the Evangelical Covenant Church, which has several “Affirmations” that can be helpful for further explanations of what we believe. View online
