What is XLSM (XL Student Ministries) all about?

‘Having thus a fond affection for you all, we were well pleased to impart to you not only the gospel of God but also our own lives, because you had become so dear to us.” I Thessalonians 2:8

This verse is a foundation to our philosophy here at Christ Church. We feel it a privilege and a blessing to used of God to share His message and His love with Jr. High and Sr. High school students. Although there are many facets to ministry, our primary role is relationships, sharing our lives with the students God entrusts with us. That is the basis in which ministry takes place.

“But as you EXCEL in everything – - in faith, in knowledge, in all diligence and in your love for us, see that you EXCEL in God’s grace also” 2 Corinthians 8:7

XL Student Ministries is about youth ‘excelling’ in Christ. Christ Church is dedicated to encourage and enable students to establish and build a relationship with Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord, and to be effective witnesses for Him in their world and among their peers. Our goal here at Christ Church is to Love God, Love Others, and make disciples.

What is Deeper?

Deeper is a Worship time and Bible study for all teens who would like to have a growing relationship with God and get DEEPER into His Word. This is something that will grow teens in Christ as they look to see what the Bible has for their daily lives. Come and join us for fellowship, snacks, worship, bible study and cell group time together. We will be meeting Wednesday nights to ignite our hearts for God.

 

Who is the Impact Team?

Here at XLSM we believe being a leader is learning how to serve others and honor God with your life. We would like to train, equip and empower teen leaders through  teaching, training and service opportunities. This group will be charged with taking on greater responsibilities and formulating ways to IMPACT this area for Christ. We belive this training will empower these teens for a life long journey that will last long past their years in XLSM and will  be something they prayerfully use everyday of their lives. 

Xtreme Trips

Every summer the teens are challenged and encouraged to participate in a week long ministry trip. Junior and Senior High trips take place on different weeks. The Junior High trip is usually to a Christian camp where they do service projects to help the camp prepare for the summer. Senior High teens travel to an inner city for evangelism and service opportunities.

Winter Retreats

Each winter the teens take a weekend retreat to a New England retreat center to have fun, play in the snow, make new friends and deepen their relationship with our Lord.

In November teens from around the southern New England region gather at EG High School for a long night of games, rollerskating, bowling, and spiritual challenge.
