Our Core Values - Keeping Christ at the Center
HOPE in CHRIST
Christ is the hope of the world. We are all made in God’s image but are broken by evil. We embrace Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection as the way to be restored, healed, and sent out as agents of reconciliation in the world.
“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.” Hebrews 10:23-24
UNITY in CHRIST
Christ is the basis for our unity. We uphold the ancient saying: “In essentials – unity; in non-essentials – liberty; in ALL things - charity (love).”
"As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace." Ephesians 4:1-3
The goal of Christian Formation is knowing Christ in a relationship where God transforms us by the Holy Spirit. We grow through the practices of worship, Bible study, prayer, fasting, giving, serving, solitude, etc. We seek to inspire and instruct our children, youth, and adults to become more like Christ.
"But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever!" 2 Peter 3:18
The Church is called the Body of Christ. He calls us into authentic community where we experience mutual love, learning, caring, and mentoring in spiritual friendships and small groups. We celebrate our diversity which reflects God’s love for all people.
"Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others." Romans 12:4
The Church is the "hands and feet" of Christ in the world as He calls us to proclaim the Good News of God's Kingdom. We will sustain both local and global partnerships that proclaim and demonstrate God’s love in concrete, life-changing ways.
“Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.” John 13:14-15
Christ is our model for servant-leadership. We seek to develop leaders by helping people discover their God-given gifts, and hear God’s call for their lives. Through biblical teaching and mentoring, Christ-followers are equipped to make an impact in the church and in the world.
“May the God of peace… equip you with everything good for doing His will and may He work in us what is pleasing to Him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever.” Hebrews 13:20-21
