Preparation and Requirements:
- Team Composition:
Your team must include the living scarecrow and at least two additional members (there is no maximum team size).
- Planning and Practice:
Teams should plan and practice dressing and decorating their living scarecrow ahead of the event to ensure a smooth setup on contest day.
- Check-In and Timing:
Upon arrival, check in between 3:30pm and 3:40pm. Make sure your team is ready for display by 3:45 PM. The contest will officially kick off at 4pm. You will have 15 minutes to dress, arrange, decorate, and pose your living scarecrow before the judging commences.
- What to Bring:
Bring all your decorating materials in a box to the contest area. Remember, nothing used for decorating should be worn by the living scarecrow, except for the clothes they are wearing (which may or may not include the finished product). The straw will be provided.
- Pose Requirements:
The living scarecrow must be able to stand or stay in their designated pose during the judging period that follows the setup time.
- Decoration Guidelines:
All decorations must be firmly attached to the scarecrow, including clothes worn or attached to the person. All props should also be secured to the living scarecrow somehow.
- Height Requirements:
Scarecrows must be between a minimum height of 3.5 feet and a maximum height of 7.5 feet.
Creativity and Themes:
- Your living scarecrow should resemble a traditional scarecrow, but you are encouraged to unleash your creativity with decorations, themes, and props. Scarecrows can be whimsical, humorous, mischievous, lovable, sad, weird, nerdy, and more!
- Theme Requirement:
Each scarecrow must have a theme, which could reflect your ministry area or personal passions. Choose a theme that resonates with you and your group to make your entry truly special!
- Family-Friendly Themes:
This contest is family-friendly, so please ensure your entries do not include gruesome, bloody, or distasteful elements.
Display Requirements:
Attach a visible sign to your scarecrow that clearly includes:
- The title of your scarecrow
- Your name or your group's name
- The theme of your scarecrow
This helps judges understand the creativity behind your entry!
Important Notes:
- All teams must be pre-registered by the stated deadline to participate.
- No advertising, defamatory content, or political statements are allowed in your designs.
Embrace the spirit of creativity and community as you participate in this joyful event! We can’t wait to see what you come up with. Have fun, and may the best scarecrow win!
